Digital Tech to Support the Global Malaria Response

ICT4D Conference Webinar Series

Presentation Materials Shared

Digital technology is offering cost-effective ways to help address complex health challenges like malaria - whether reaching or training health workers, using mobile tablets for data collection, or setting up digitized data systems for real time monitoring of malaria and ensuring medicines do not run out.

This webinar, part of a monthly ICT4D webinar series, will update on different tools applied to support malaria programs, with a specific focus on the impact of the pandemic on the global malaria response, and discuss how data can be used to measure the quality of those interventions.

Featuring three short presentations and further discussion on:

  • Overview of Digital Innovations for Fighting Malaria: Showcasing different technologies and their use cases for CRS’ global malaria portfolio and planned malaria interventions.
  • Malaria and COVID-19: Lessons Learned from the Past Year: Exploring efforts supporting the continuity of malaria services during the pandemic, and ways PATH has been able to leverage malaria systems to support the COVID-19 response.
  • Measuring the Quality of Malaria Interventions: Implementers (including local governments) typically conduct quality checks of malaria interventions, such as facility-based malaria service delivery and distribution of ITNs through campaigns and routine channels, using digital technologies for analysis and decision making – not only to quantify gaps in the implementation of those interventions, but also to measure the quality of those interventions.

Attendees are encouraged to ask questions and join the debate.
