Data is big at the upcoming 2017 ICT4D Conference
Once again, NetHope is proud to be an organizing partner of the ICT4D Conference, held this year for the first time in India.
For eight years the ICT4D Conference has brought together public, private and civil organizations from around the globe who share the belief that innovation and technology can better aid underserved communities. Last year’s 2016 ICT4D Conference was attended by over 700 participants from 76 countries representing over 300 organizations. Upon returning home, NetHope CEO Lauren Woodman reflected on her experience at the conference: “All of us that attend ICT4D believe technology can have a meaningful impact on the communities we serve. We share the idea that powerful tools – from software to sensors – can accelerate progress and empower millions to address the challenges that face our world.”
For this, its ninth year, the theme of the ICT4D Conference is: “Harnessing the power of data for the U.N. Sustainable Development Goals.” The conference is a dynamic, multi-disciplinary gathering of inspiring leaders, thought-provoking speakers, and engaged participants from around the world to explore how innovation in technology is increasing the impact of development work to make a measurable difference in millions of people’s lives. Experts will examine common challenges and innovations pertaining to digital services, geospatial & big data analytics & visualization, data sharing & protection strategies, and smart devices & IoT (Internet of Things) solutions leading to financial inclusion and improved development outcomes.
